Product Overview
PolyZen devices are polymer-enhanced precision Zener diode micro-assemblies designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage spikes, transients, incorrect power supplies, and reverse bias. These resettable devices integrate a stable Zener diode for precise voltage clamping with a resistively non-linear, polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) layer. The PPTC layer responds to overcurrent or diode heating by transitioning to a high resistance state, limiting current and generating a voltage drop. This functionality effectively increases the Zener diode's power handling capacity, protecting both the diode and downstream electronics. PolyZen devices offer a single-component solution, reducing design costs and minimizing heat sinking requirements. They are suitable for applications such as portable media players, GPS devices, hard disk drives, SSDs, cellphone charger ports, USB power, automotive peripherals, DC power ports, and industrial handheld POS systems.
